Each year, The Kalamazoo Promise asks each school in Kalamazoo Public Schools to select one individual who is truly “making a difference in the lives of young people” and has demonstrated creative, innovative services that have helped their school far exceed its goals. The award criteria allow for all school staff, including contract staff, to be nominated. All teachers, bus drivers, custodians, administrators, secretaries, counselors, and food service workers are eligible to receive this award. Each award winner is nominated and selected by their peers and colleagues at their school.
In May, we hosted our annual "You Make A Difference" Awards Ceremony. We celebrated 27 incredible staff members from Kalamazoo Public Schools who go above and beyond every day to shape the future leaders of tomorrow. Your dedication and passion inspire us all. Thank you, KPS, for partnering with us to make this event possible and for your unwavering commitment to education.
We would also like to thank Superintendent Dr. Darrin Slade and State Representative Julie M. Rogers for helping make this moment even more special. We were moved by the inspiring words of several members of The Promise team, who reminded us of the lasting impact these awardees have on our students.
