Lights on Afterschool 2023

Saturday, October 26th

KYD Network invites you to join us for the ninth annual Lights On Afterschool (LOA) celebration.  Thousands of communities celebrate this day, created by the Afterschool Alliance. Now more than ever, the out-of-school time (OST) sector provides time for youth to learn new skills, engage in healthy relationships, and create a more equitable community.

Every year 60 youth-serving organizations engage 4,000 youth in high quality programs like art, STEAM, sports and recreation, dance, and leadership.  KYD Network works toward ensuring all youth have agency within a well coordinated system that supports anti-racist, high-quality, and youth-driven OST programs. Youth who participate in high quality OST programs develop strong social emotional learning skills that they exercise in OST programming, in school, at home, at work, and in their community. These skills improve school attendance, behavior, academic achievement, and performance in the workforce.

Lights on Afterschool will be hosted by various groups at multiple locations

Northside: Boys and Girls Club at Douglass Community Association

Southside: El Concilio
