Thank You, Isabel
Isabel McMullen, Research Analyst, will be pursuing a Ph.d. in Political Science at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
The Kalamazoo Promise extends to our congratulations to our Research Analyst, Isabel McMullen, who will be starting her doctoral program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in political science in the fall of 2022.
Isabel joined The Kalamazoo Promise team in November 2017, following her graduation from the University of Michigan, with a bachelor’s degree in political science and Spanish. In her role as Research Analyst, Isabel specialized in the collection, management, and analysis of Kalamazoo Promise-related data.
During her time at The Promise, Isabel supported various initiatives and projects at both The Kalamazoo Promise and the W.E. Upjohn Institute for Employment Research. This includes having two academics papers published in The Journal of College Student Retention, that focused on assessing those students persisting in post-secondary education: Modeling First Year Stop Out of Kalamazoo Promise Scholars: Mapping Influences of Socioeconomic Advantage and Pre-College Performance to College Performance and Persistence & Sometimes a Long and Winding Road: An Exploration of Kalamazoo Promise Stop Out and Reenrollment
Much of her work focused on The Kalamazoo Promise’s stop out population, students who have started a post-secondary experience and have since stopped and not yet received their post-secondary credentials, while assessing what factors have contributed to students who have stopped their journey.
Isabel also served on the Intercultural Development Team (IDT), a board within The Kalamazoo Promise, whose goal is to internally become more adaptive and understanding of different cultures in order to establish an inclusive workplace and better serve Promise Scholars.
We thank Isabel for her contributions to The Kalamazoo Promise and we wish the best as she pursues her doctoral program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
